Leos Go Green…!

Nurture the Nature

We shall commit ourselves to the conservation of nature, by promoting environmental awareness, engaging in conservation activities such preserving the plants, animals and natural communities including the endangered flora and fauna that represents the diversity of life on earth. We shall actively lobby for effective environmental legislations, together with the NGOs working in these areas.

[New Club] Leo Club of Hindu College, Colombo 4

Hi Leos,

I’m happy to inform you all that “Leo Club of Hindu College, Colombo 4″ has been formally registered and organized a installation ceremony today. Lions Club of Colombo Circle has extended another Leo club.

Though the club was initiated two years back and functioning, it has been inactive and not properly orientated or installed. But after appointment of new Teacher-in-charge and the effort from Leo Club of Colombo Circle, we were able to activate them with momentum to have three formal general meetings in which their Leo Advisor too took part. We also organized orientation for the Leo club members on last Friday (23rd of January 2009) by District Chairperson for Leos and District Secretary.

Finally today, Installation of their club has been organized in a grand way with the presence of Leo District President Leo S. Thirupparan, District Chairperson for Leos and other dignitaries.

They are planning to organize their first project on 4th (Independence day) or 8th (Poya day). I hope they would grow more to challenge with the existing clubs of the District 306B2. We wish them good luck…!

District Sports-meet – Soon

Leo District Sports meet will be held on 8th of February. All the clubs are requested to submit the information of the participants before 30th of January to Leo Thiru. It’s a chance to prove sportive talents.

District 306B2 – Its Our T-shirt

Leo District Council 306B2 is printing a Leo T-shirt for all the Leos in the District. We are planning to provide the District Leo T-shirt on District Sports meet (February 8th).

Final Design of the t-shirt is attached here. Please let us know number of T-shirts will your club needs. If your club members need the T-shirts please make your advance payments within this Thursday to Leo S. Thirupparan (0779213766).

Price of a T – shirt – 675/=

As there is a fixed cost involved in Printing of T-shirt, If more t-shirts get printed cost would be reduced. So we have decided to give T-shirt at the rate of 650/= if any club gets more than 10 t-shirts.

Please confirm us as soon as possible to avoid last minute rush and the disappointments.

Chirstmas Comes Here – Colombo Circle

Leo Club of Colombo Circle celebrated Christmas with the students of Millennium Institute (School for Differentially Abled Children). The club organized a large cultural show in which all our Leos actively participated with the children.

District General Meeting

After the Leo Leadership Symposium, District Council had a Leo General meeting on the same day. Leo District President Leo S. Thirupparan conducted meeting. Leo District Secretary made few initial announcements regarding upcoming District Sports meet and paying Annual District fees.

Then the web site of Leo District was officially opened by District Chair person for Leos. Then Leo District Council Officers were offered Pins received from International. Participants of Leadership Symposium received their certificates. District Secretary submitted and presented report of first two quarters of Leo District Council 306B2. Finally with Vote of Thanks meeting adjourned for fellowship.

Leo Leadership Symposium 2009

To enhance leadership skills of our Leos, Leadership Symposium is annually organized by the District 306B2 on 11th Sunday of January of 2009 at Charted Institute Hall. Two well known guest speakers were brought by Leo District Council. They are Vice District Governor Kinsley Benard and well known public speaker on marketing Shanavas Mohaideen. Both eminent presenters clearly guided our Leos towards the purpose through their training session.

There were more 125 Leos participated in this event. District Chairperson for Leos and District Chair person for youth programs and other Leo Advisors too took part in this event.

Leadership Symposium 2009

The Leo District Council 306B2 invites all the Leo Club Presidents and Members for the Leadership Symposium. This significant event is organized by the District Council 306B2 in order to develop leadership qualities and to excel their abilities and knowledge. This will also helps to make Leos prominent citizens in our society in the future.

A certificate will be presented to all the participants and refreshment will also be provided. The presidents can submit their 2nd quarter report on this day (deadline 15th January 2009).
