Leoism
Leo, which stands for Leadership, Experience and Opportunity, is an international organization for youth to provide youth of world with an opportunity for development and contribution, individually and collectively, as responsible members of local, national and international community. The Leo movement, which was initiated around 51 years ago in 1957, is considered as the Youth project of Lions Clubs International. True to its Motto of Leadership, Experience, and Opportunity, the Leo movement provides youth from ages 12 to 28. In short, Leoism provides fellowship, Great Opportunities to help the less fortunate, great leadership skills to become and experienced leaders while enjoying life. It helps to create a harmonious world by attracting all the youth from different backgrounds, different cultures, different languages and different religions and let them work together for a common goal.
Leoism just started with the 35 students of Abington High School, Pennsylvania, USA in 1957. Since 1957, when the first club was organized, the Leo movement has now grown up to over 5700 clubs in 139 countries with approximately 144,000 members. (Source: Leo statistics as of November 25th 2008). Leos are celebrating their 51st International Leo day on coming 5th of December.
Leo District 306B2
Leo District 306B2 is one of the best and active districts in Sri Lanka. From its formation on 2005 / 2006, Leo District 306 B2 stands as one of best districts in Leo MD 306 Sri Lanka. Further, it has 21 active clubs and enthusiastic Leos. Some Leo clubs has excelled their excellence and awarded by Lions clubs International as well. Leo district 306B2 includes Leo clubs from various parts of Sri Lanka including Biyagama, various places in Colombo, Kandana, Jaela, Gampaha, Grandpass, Kelaniya, Mutuwal, Nittambuwa. District 306B2 also has Leo clubs from leading schools from various places.
Leo S. Thirupparan being the District President for the fiscal year 2008 / 2009, District 306B2 stands high in providing service to community while providing the Leadership skills, experiences and opportunities for self developing activities. While District President being the leader of the district, enthusiastic district council officers and supportive members are leading the District 306B2 with high momentum while showing excellent commitment and perfect leadership towards the Leoism.
In this fiscal year of 2008/2009, Leo District 306 B2 is driven by district president’s theme; “DREAM BELIEVE ACHIEVE” and his five point program.

There are lots of opportunities provided for youth through its annual grand events and projects. Annual Youth Camp, Youth Exchange(local and international), Annual Leo Conference, Annual Youth Talent show, Leadership Symposium, Club Officers’ Workshop, District Sports meet, Cricket tournaments, Inter district Quiz competitions, religious and social get-togethers, service projects and many other surprising fun events are some sample events to point out opportunities for the valuable members of our district.
